NAD⁺ IV therapy: the most expensive option, and the least proven

We are going to give you the conclusion first, because it is the part the clinics selling this will not lead with. NAD⁺ IV therapy costs more than any other way of raising NAD⁺ — often by an order of magnitude — and it is the format with the least controlled evidence behind it. If you want to try NAD⁺, there are cheaper routes with better data. If you still want the drip after reading why, you will at least be buying it with your eyes open.

Why the price and the evidence point in opposite directions

An IV delivers a large dose of NAD⁺ directly into the bloodstream over a session that commonly runs two to four hours. The appeal is obvious: the biggest possible dose, administered by somebody else, with an immediate sense of having done something substantial.

Two facts sit awkwardly against that. First, infused NAD⁺ is cleared from plasma quickly — a large dose is not the same as a lasting one. Second, and more importantly, there is no controlled outcome trial showing that IV NAD⁺ produces the benefits it is marketed for. Not a weak trial, not a mixed one: the controlled outcome evidence for wellness uses is essentially absent, while the price is the highest in the category.

Compare that with oral precursors — nicotinamide riboside and NMN — which do have randomized human trials showing they reliably raise blood NAD⁺, and which cost a small fraction of a drip course. The evidence ranking in this category runs almost exactly opposite to the price ranking. That is the single most useful thing to know about NAD⁺, and it is why we keep saying it.

If the convenience of a clinic visit and a higher single dose is worth the premium to you, that is a legitimate personal call. Just make it knowing what the premium does and does not buy. For most people asking us, the honest recommendation is an at-home injection or an oral precursor.

  • Price transparency — can you find the real all-in monthly cost, and the dose it buys, before creating an account?

  • Ordering experience — how straightforward the intake, prescribing and delivery actually are, including whether the NAD⁺ product is reachable at all from the page their link lands on.
  • Clinical support — access to a real clinician after the sale, and how cancellation is handled.

Clinic pricing varies widely by market and dose, and a course of infusions commonly runs into the hundreds or thousands of dollars per month — substantially more than at-home injections, which start near $169 per month among the providers we can verify. Because IV pricing is set locally and we have not read it on a national seller's own site, we do not publish a specific figure here rather than quote one we cannot stand behind.
Is IV NAD⁺ worth the money?
From a purely evidence-based standpoint, the case is weak. IV NAD⁺ is the most expensive format and has essentially no controlled outcome trials for wellness uses, and infused NAD⁺ clears from plasma rapidly. Some people value the higher single dose and the supervised setting, and that is a fair reason to choose it — but it should be a preference you are knowingly paying for, not a belief that you are buying better results.
Is IV NAD⁺ FDA-approved?
No. NAD⁺ for infusion is a compounded preparation, which means it is not FDA-approved and the FDA has not reviewed it for safety, efficacy or quality before administration. The same is true of injectable and nasal NAD⁺.
What has better evidence than IV?
Oral precursors. Nicotinamide riboside is the most clinically studied NAD⁺ precursor and reliably raises blood NAD⁺ in randomized human trials. NMN raises NAD⁺ too, though its status as a lawful supplement ingredient in the United States is unresolved. Neither has proven the downstream anti-aging outcomes the category markets — but both have more human data than any injectable or IV product, at a fraction of the cost.
